Scriptures: Daniel 6.
In
Kids Church, the story of Daniel is popular among kids. For one, it speaks of a
miracle when he was thrown into the lion’s den. As we grow up, our trust issues
also grow with us. We begin to risk a little bit and hope not to get burn, aren’t
we? While kids, in contrast, have an easier time trusting God. In Mark 10:14
Jesus said, “Let the children come to me! Don’t try to stop them. People who
are like these little children belong to the kingdom of God.” Jesus even
promises that we cannot get into God’s kingdom, unless we accept it the way a
child does. He commands us to draw near to our heavenly Father like a
child-like faith—to approach God the way kids approach Him.

Kids
believe the impossible and they aren’t afraid to ask questions because they are
wired to do it. All the more so, they ask with confidence and boldness. Perhaps,
since we have experienced the impossible, grown-ups just settle that things
beyond our grasp just couldn’t happen and so we just accept the way things are.
We try to put limitations not only on our life but on God. Although we have the
awareness that God have risked already everything for our relationship, we are
still hesitants. It seems easy for us to impose limitations on God but
intimidated to even start a conversation with Him. In Daniel 6:11, 16 the men
who had spoken to the king instead of trying to understand Daniel, end up
blaming him. That’s precisely we often do.
In
God, any question is a great question to commence a conversation with Him. God
just wants to speak into your life. He isn’t intimidated by your questions; and
never will He be.
“God, what are you gonna do through me?”
“God, what do I start doing now?”
“God, what should I stop doing right now?”
“God, who do you plan should be speaking into my life?”
“God, who should not be speaking into my life?”
“God, where do I go for help?”
These are just some of the kick
off questions you might want to raise as you communicate with the one true King
who listens to everything we think and say when no one does.
My
hope is that you will open your heart and be excited to share your encounters,
whether you are in a lion’s den or in a war. Kids are excited to share, you
know, and if you aren’t sharing, you are forgetting. May you not forget the good
things that God has done for you and in you—sharing is a wonderful practice to
remember His goodness! And even if at the moment you encounter a hopeless situation in the same way a stone was rolled over the pit, was sealed and there’s no way Daniel could get out (Daniel 6:17), God has not said it’s over (Daniel 6:27 CEV). God can do it for you. You better embrace it!
